Coke Explosion

Materials:

 Coke
 Chlorine
 Plastic container or bowl

Procedure:

1.) Prepare the materials.

2.) Reduce the soda in ¼ only.
3.) Place the coke in the middle of the bowl.
4.) Put the chlorine inside the bottle and see what happens.
Outcome:

Reflection:

In this experiment, this is how the chlorine and soda react. This experiment is easy to
make but I didn’t knew that this kind of experiment can affect our breathing because after the
chlorine mixed with the coke, it creates bubbles that produce bad smell and make the bottle of
coke molten. My classmates and our teacher sir Popoy go outside the room for us to breathe
fresh air. According to the video that I watched, the small amount of phosphoric acid in the Coke
sets off a chemical reaction with the calcium hypochlorite, producing poisonous chlorine gas and
a spectacular little explosion.
