The influence of school friends on a child's success may be greater than the
influence of parents. Having friends does have some positive effects, but in my point of view, parents give the child a much greater impact on their success.
Independent of a child's educational background, classmates are essential to
his or her success, especially if they help each other. As an example, a child can seek help from friends when he is having difficulty understanding a lesson. A child's friends may support and encourage him when he joins a sports competition. While they certainly have their positive sides, they could also have their negatives. In addition, friends tend to copy each other's habits and manners. For example, one of the classmates might swear and be rude to the teacher then he could influence the others to use it.
It is commonly believed that parents contribute more to children's academic
studies than classmates do. Parents have experience in a lot of matters. They might be giving technical advice and give them their experiences to help them solve problems. They can give moral support. It is possible that a child is having difficulties with his exam; his parents may encourage him with motivational words and stay up to greet him. All money for improving a child's academic study will also be provided by the parents. For instance, a child might have some problems with mathematics, and the parents might hire a private tutor for their child.
In conclusion, I do agree that school friends have some positive effect on a
child’s academic performance, but I do not agree if people think that classmates give a more important influence than parents. I believe that parents play more important roles in a child’s success, as they give moral and financial support.
