Essay 1
Despite the rise of feminism and equal right, women participation at a high level is under-represented,
even though having superior skills and qualifications. Numerous women do the same job as their male
colleagues and earn less money and appreciation even have fewer opportunities of promotion. For
example, a survey by the Guardian Newspaper found that in the United Kingdom women earn 25% less
than men of the same position and 50% less likely to be promoted. The reason stated behind these
trends by the organization are maternity leaves and multiple responsibilities of home and office.
Evidently, women outperformed men on many fronts that traditionally a stronghold of men. Girls are
getting higher grades in most university courses such as Mechanical engineering, Civil engineering, and
Aeronautical engineering previously male dominated fields. For instance, a top aeronautical scientist in
NASA is a woman (Sunita Williams), CEO of Pepsi is Indra Noyee. however, positions should be based on
merit, not on the gender basis.
In conclusion, women deserve the equal opportunity based on merit, since they are capable of managing
the critical and demanding roles at the organization, hence corporate should follow the fairer hiring
system.
