Chpt 2: ALWAYS WORKING
(Functions of Internal Organs)
You can think of them as efficient
workers of an office. Each one knows
the work they have to do and how to do
it. They work silently and round the
clock, without a moment’s pause. They
coordinate well with each other and
make sure everything runs well and
smoothly. Which wonderful office is
this?
Yes, it is our body. And the workers are
all our internal organs! The working of
our internal organs keep us going, ready
for another wonderful day, day after
day!
Our internal organs digest the food that
we eat. They throw out the waste. They
help us breathe. They help us to think
and act. They help us to move our
external body parts too. Every internal
organ is part of a ‘system’. And almost
always, each system does the work that
it is supposed to do.
Respiratory, circulatory, digestive,
nervous, skeletal, excretory and so on
are some of the system that work closely
together inside our body to keep it
going.
