o Figuring out the different language

o Not having my students understanding what I was saying
o Trying to get people to answer or respond when they don’t know
what is being asked of them
 What did you do to “overcome” these challenges?
o Try to communicate using different gestures and body languages
o Find a way to guide them in the correct dirrection
 As a teacher, how did this activity simulate trying to instruct one or
more ELL students in your classroom?  How did you use "language" in
your instruction?
o It shows how students who are in ell are unaware of what we are
saying and need the extra help to understand us
 As a student, what did you rely on most to comprehend what was being
taught?
o Images, hand signals
 As part of the "class", how can you relate this activity to the experience
of ELL students in an English speaking classroom?
o Not knowing what was being taught or even said to me
 Overall, what do you think was the purpose of this activity?
o The purpose of this activity was to put us in the shoes of the ell
students so we could understand how and why it is so difficult for
them to learn in an ell classrom
