A search and rescue operation are an operation implemented by qualified volunteers to

help locate a person or persons who are in possible distress or immediate danger. These

individuals are assumed to be in crisis, missing, unwell, or hurt in an unknown area with limited

access points. The places can vary depending on the situation and/or circumstance. The location

for a search and rescue includes mountains, desert, woodland, or sea. There are also several

reasons for a search and rescue operation, such as an accident, mental health condition, natural

disaster, or foul play. Search and rescue operations are an extensive emergency service

conducted by highly trained military professionals, local law enforcement, and nonmilitary

volunteers. There are several types of search and rescue operations, different activities are

required for a search operation versus a rescue operation, and the results of a search and rescue

operation differ based on location, situation, and circumstance. This paper will highlight the

different types of search and rescue operations, the different activities required for a search

operation versus a rescue operation, and the different results of a search operation and a rescue

operation.

First, the purpose of a search and rescue operation is to find, support, and remove people

from distressful situations. There are different types of search and rescue operations and each

operation requires techniques for that circumstance or situation. There are four types of search

and rescue operations. They include mountain rescues, searches on the ground, and air-sea

rescues over water.

Furthermore, there are different activities required for a search operation versus a rescue

operation. A rescue operation is an operation that is performed in order to retrieve a person or

persons in trouble, make sure they receive the proper medical care and place them in a safe

place. On the other hand, a search is an operation that is usually organized by a rescue operation
center or rescue sub-center that utilizes the facilities and volunteers available in order to locate

the missing, distress, or injured person or persons.

Finally, the different results of a search operation and a rescue operation. The goal of

every search and rescue operation is to make sure that the human life on the other side is safe. It

is the main responsibility of the volunteers in charge or helping within the operation. I can

include a hiker on the side of a mountain, a person who lost a sea, a person trapped due to a

natural disaster, or even a mentally challenged person wandering the streets. A search and rescue

team must be located within each city in order to provide emergency services. The results of a

search are the person or persons are found. It does not mean it is always a positive find. The

result of rescue is that the person or persons are no longer in distress.

In conclusion, there are several types of search and rescue operations, different activities

are required for a search operation versus a rescue operation, and the results of a search and

rescue operation differ based on location, situation, and circumstance. Search and rescue are two

completely distinct activities. Search and rescue operations require teamwork and

communication. It is imperative that while completing a search and rescue that everyone follows

the plan. The purpose of a search and rescue operation is to find, support, and remove people

from distressful situations. There are different activities required for a search operation versus a

rescue operation. The goal of every search and rescue operation is to make sure that the human

life on the other side is safe.
