THE SENSE OF SELF

1. Subjectivism refers to the free exchange of viewpoints, interpretations and opinions in a

situation or a problem. It teaches that there are no objective moral truths.
Ex. I can personally believe that changing your sex is a form of genital mutilation whilst some
can say it is about embracing your gender identity.

2. Psychological Egoism is the view that people are always motivated by self-interest, even
in what seems to be acts of altruism.

Ex. Some parents might only be interested in investing resources for their child just so they can
get much more out of their success in the future.

3. Ethical Egoism is the theory that people should always act in their own self-interest, that
they are morally obligated to do what is best for themselves.

Ex A person who is willing to be helped but is not willing to help.

PERSONAL SOURCES OF ETHICS

1. Religion - it is the source of moral values, it teaches us how to act and behave.

2. Experiences - our values can change over time depending on the experiences we have.

3. Culture - our culture tells us what is good, right, and moral.

THE TALIBAN’S WAR AGAINST WOMEN

1. The article talks about how the Taliban’s version of the Islamic law strips away the
rights of women and turns them into prisoners in their own home.
2. This is a matter of ethics because the article is about how a group of Barbaric Men
took away the rights of almost half of Afghanistan’s population in their reign of terror
from 1996 to 2001 and it is happening again in 2021.
3. I believe that the Taliban’s takeover is wrong and will not be good for the citizens of
Afghanistan.
4. In my opinion, we cannot allow this to happen again at a time especially now where
human rights has been at its best state for all of human history. We cannot allow a
civilization to be under the Taliban’s regime because it will ruin the lives of so many
people.
