1. “Man is by nature a political animal.

” – Plato
This ideology of Plato reiterates that man is considered by nature as a political animal because
human beings were capable of reasoning, in which he knows how to differentiate just from
unjust. Therefore, humankind has the ability to alter his lifestyle and make it better by
communicating with others because he is able to know what is right from wrong.
Plato is suggesting that man should base his decision-making and reasoning capabilities on
politics or the laws hereby provided by the governing body of a certain society. These policies or
laws were that of fundamental concepts of good for human beings. Plato points out that it is
also by nature that man is social, therefore he is naturally political. Humans were given the
freedom of speech, which can be used as a tool for communication, in this way a man can share
his ideas on a certain issue and give judgment if it is right or wrong as well as just or unjust.
However, whenever these nature of man were never depicted then the man itself is considered
an animal without any potential.

2. When do we say that politics is good? When do we say that it is bad?

We can say that politics is good when everything is in place. What I mean is that people of a
certain community or country follows laws and norms. These laws and norms were made by
those government leaders to put the country under control and at peace. Politics should be
somewhat beneficial for both parties – leaders and its citizens. Beneficial in a way that the
government leaders provide the needs of its people, rule its countrymen properly and
humanely, and think about the goodness of his fellowmen. Its people in return should be oblige
to follow the laws wholeheartedly and he should know his responsibilities as an individual
citizen of a country.
In contrast, politics is also bad in such a way that government officials abuse the power that they
have. They use this political power to abuse human rights, to be greedy enough to steal money
that doesn’t really belong to them, and use this power to satisfy their dark hidden desires for
themselves. Politics’ shady area is when these leaders of the country did not do their sworn
obligations to their citizens. Sometimes, these leaders were the ones who abandon their
countrymen in times of trials and circumstances. A country’s greatest problem is not poverty but
corrupt officials who were blinded by greediness for money, their minds that is polluted by
selfishness, and irresponsibility towards their words and actions.
