PHILOSOPHY

1. What is Philosophy?
Philosophy is a form of thinking as well as a mental activity. Philosophy is the most critical
and thorough mode of thought that the human species has yet created. Both analytic and
synthetic modes of activity are used in this intellectual process. Dispelling ignorance,
increasing understanding, expanding perspectives, developing imagination, regulating
emotion, investigating values, fixing beliefs via rational inquiry, creating action habits,
broadening considerations, synthesizing information, and seeking wisdom are all part of it.
2. What are the different branches of philosophy and their nature?

- Metaphysics: deals with the first principles of things, including abstract concepts such as
being, knowing, substance, cause, identity, time, and space.
- Epistemology: the investigation of what distinguishes justified belief from opinion.
- Axiology: study of the nature of value and valuation, and of the kinds of things that are
valuable.
- Logic: a science that deals with the principles and criteria of validity of inference and
demonstration.
