Report of the Thesis :

The objective of the thesis entitled“ Right to Property of Hindu Women in India –
Problems and Perspectives” submitted by MS.GITANJALI RANANWARE is to evaluate the
Status of Women’s Property Rights in Hindu Mythology in India , and also to examine various
types of proprietary rights given to women under the
Hindu Succession Act,1956. . The Researcher has adopted the doctrinal methodology in
carrying out the Research study, and the Review of Literature incorporated in chapter I
covers all the relevant and important material on the subject. The Hypothesis of the Research
are aptly framed and explained well thereof.

The entire doctoral thesis has been in 352 pages divied into as many as seven chapters.
The scheme of chapterization has been done covering all important aspects pertinent to the
research topic.

The First Chapter deals with the development of women Property rights, in this chapter, the
researcher has discussed the evolutionary development of the property rightsrights of women .

The Second Chapter entitled ‘status of women’s Property Rights in Hindu Mythology’ focusses
on the history, origin and development of women property rights. In the Third Chapter
examination and analysis of the the legislation prior to female property rights o f Hindu

women has been presented.


The Fourth Chapter deals with Inheritance of the Rights of Hindu Women under different
Personal Laws in India.

The researcher in Fifth Chapter has discussed and analysed various enactments like statute of
conveyance, 1670, Administration of Estates Act 1925 etc.

The Sixth Chapter thoroughly and meticulously examines the cases relating to customary
laws and after passing of Hindu Succession Act.
The Seventh and last Chapter deals with Conclusion, Findings and Suggestions.
The Researcher on the basis of her discussion and analysis of the the material has come
forth with the suggestions pertaining to Statutory Amendments ,and the General Suggestions.
The researcher is of firm view that there is a real need to radical transformation in the hearts
and the mind sets of the People so that people in the society abandon the traditional
discriminative attitude towards the gender economic equality and justice, happily and
heartily come forward to accept and embrace the objectives for the creation of new rights of
women.

After minute and thorough perusal of the thesis of MS.GITANJALIRANANWARE


I have arrived at following
FINDINGS- - The aforementioned Thesis , as I understand is an outcome of sincere efforts put forth and the
researcher in fact left no stone unturned to cover every relevant point of this topic of practical socio-
Constitutional and practical significance ,The presentation is lucid and the study is methodically
designed. The researcher deserves appreciation for undertaking the research study of socio-legal importance.

In the light of preceding observations, I am very much satisfied and hereby Recommend that this
abovementioned THESIS submitted by MS GITANJALIRANANWARE BE ACCEPTED for Award of Ph.D
in LAW by Savitribaiphule Pune University in the Faculty of Law.

The researcher has proved that ‘The Hindu Succession( Amendment) Act, 2005’ aims to reduce
the gap of the gender and also to improve the status of Hindu women.

Recommendations

I recommend that the Ph.D thesis of Ms. Geetanjali S.Rananware may please be accepted in
the present form for the award of the Ph.D. degree in Law to her .
