Overview of the lesson

Self – discovery is an essential personal task. It is the gateway for personal and career
development. This lesson discusses many changes that happen during middle and late adolescence,
transitions that occur, and adjustments that must be made. Knowing who you are forms building
blocks to become the person you want to be, or you are meant to be—lesson 2 talks all about physical
changes and the development of self-identity.

I. Learning Competencies

▪ Show the connections between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in actual life situations
▪ Evaluate one’s development through the help of significant people around him/her (peers,
parents, siblings, friends, teachers, community leaders)
▪ Discuss developmental tasks and challenges being experienced during adolescence

II. Learning Objectives

a. Classify various developmental tasks according to developmental stages;


b. Evaluate one’s development in comparison with persons of the same age groups; and
c. List ways to become a responsible adolescent prepared for adult life
d. Share their unique characteristics, habits, and experiences
e. Reflect on their discovery about self and identify career plans

Introduction

a. A short activity will be given to the students about self-awareness


b. Ask the students the following questions:
- What are your realizations about this activity?
- What patterns and connections among their favorites and interests did you find
out?
- Did you learn more about yourself in this activity?
