Research Problem
Millennials are eating few Burgers
Objective Finding- Defining the problem are:
The problem area is defined by the issue that Millennials are eating few burgers which is causing a
drop in the sales of burgers by various companies in Fast Food Industry.
Fact Finding- Gather Information
According to a Wall Street journal millennials may have had enough of fast-food burgers and have
diverted their interests towards more gourmet restaurants. Due to this transition, there has been a
significant drop in the consumption of burgers.
Millennials today have opted to take a healthier route in their day to day lives, therefore, making them
more aware and conscious about what they eat. Taking Mc Donald’s as an example even though they
are still growing they had to shut down nearly 150 outlets in the USA. Lastly, millennials want to
experiment with different and exotic cuisines.
Problem Finding- Define the problem correctly
Millennials have reduced the consumption of junk food due to the onset of healthy food movements
and spreading idea of eating healthy food.
Idea Finding- Generate solutions to the problem
Fast food restaurants can utilize the ideology of selling their food products in deals or packaged
combinations to help attract more customers by providing the incentive of saving money.
Fast food restaurants can combat the health-conscious mindset of the millennials by utilizing organic,
local ingredients and meat from naturally raised animals. They can start adding more salads and
healthy options on the menu to attract the millennial crowds.
Lastly, fast food restaurants can start using air fryers instead of deep frying. This will reduce the oil
content in the items hence making it healthier and appealing to the customers. To keep up with the
changing tastes and preferences they can also add in a separate section for low fat, sugar free, low
carbohydrates, and gluten free dishes.
Solution Finding- Evaluate and choose between possible solutions
Personally, I would choose the second solution and the third solution as an additional backing to my
second solution. The first solution is a now redundant method as it has been tried several times before
by various brands and is only somewhat customer oriented. It also does not attack the problem at hand
aptly. Solution 2 is more consumer oriented, and it keeps up with today’s trends which include the
health-conscious mind sets of the millennials. By marketing how the restaurants are providing gluten
free, sugar free and low-fat dishes they can satisfy the customers by giving them exactly what they
want. Hereby, I conclude that solution 2 and 3 are best suited to tackle the problem as it will increase
the reach of the company, increase the company’s sales, and solve all the consumer problems.
