FICTION
Picture Book - a book consisting mainly or entirely of pictures
Cartoon - a type of two-dimensional illustration, possibly animated
Mystery - anything that is kept secret or remains unexplained or unknown, involving a
mysterious death or a crime to be solved
Adventure - an exciting or unusual experience, it may also be a bold,
usually risky undertaking, with an uncertain outcome.
Science fiction - a genre of speculative fiction, typically dealing
with imaginative concepts such as futuristic science and technology, space travel, time
travel, faster than light travel, parallel universes, and extra terrestrial life
Historical fiction - a literary genre in which the plot takes place in a setting located in the
past
Fairy tale - a type of short story that typically features folkloric fantasy characters, such
as dwarfs, dragons, elves, fairies, giants, gnomes, goblins, griffins, mermaids, talking
animals, trolls, unicorns, or witches, and usually magic or enchantments
Myth - a traditional story consisting of events that are ostensibly historical, though often
supernatural, explaining the origins of a cultural practice or natural phenomenon
Legend - a narrative of human actions that are perceived both by teller and listeners to
take place within human history and demonstrating human values, and which possesses
certain qualities that give the tale verisimilitude
Play - a form of literature written by a playwright, usually consisting
of dialogue between characters, intended for theatrical performance
