Pythagoras, born in Samos, Greece, was an ancient mathematician and

philosopher who made significant contributions to the theory of music, mathematics,

and astronomy. One of his well-known contributions to mathematics is called the
“Pythagorean Theorem.”
Although the Babylonians knew the Pythagorean Theorem a thousand years
earlier, the theorem was named Pythagoras because he has been the first to prove it.
The Pythagora’s Theorem or Pythagorean Theorem states that: “The summation of the
areas of two small squares is equal to the area of the big square.”
Since Pythagorean Theorem is about a right triangle, it became a widely and
significantly used topic in mathematics and is mainly used in construction and
architectural fields. The theory can be used to determine the shortest distance between
two points, as well as the slope of a lamp posts, roofs, or mountains.
Suppose you are going to your friend’s house. You pass by a corner house
between apple avenue and banana avenue, and you want to find the shortest distance
you can travel going back home. You can get the shortest distance using the
Pythagorean theorem if you already know the distance from your home to apple
avenue, and apple avenue to banana avenue.
