SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS TO TENDERER

As mentioned in the tender document, the proposed work/investigation site may have
radioactive contamination. The site will be thoroughly checked by departmental HP before work
initiation at site. If site is found contaminated, following safety measures has to be adopted
during execution of work.

a) Persons supposed to work in radioactive contaminated areas need valid medical certificate.
Medical certificate on departmental prescribed proforma shall be submitted for supervisors and
all the labours deployed at the site for issue of TLD badges/other radiation monitoring devices
required for working in radioactive area.
b) The work will be carried out under guide lines of departmental Health Physics personnel. All the
radiation protection instructions on safety procedures as directed by RSO/HP of the facilities
must be followed.
c) All persons working in contaminated areas should wear protective gear provided by department.
d) Pregnant ladies and labourers under 18 years cannot be engaged for the work in contaminated
areas.
e) At the end of the day, after completion of work, each worker must take bath and undergo routine
contamination check by departmental Health Physicist. No worker will be allowed to leave
without HP clearance.
f) If any equipment gets contaminated during the job, it cannot be taken out without proper
decontamination and clearance by departmental Health Physics.
g) Contractor has to follow all safety, security and transport regulations of BARC without any lapse.
The contractor is solely responsible for the safety of his personnel at work site. Department will
not be responsible for any lapse occurred on part of the contractor’s or their labour at site of
work.
h). Machinery and dumpers used for soil excavations shall be parked at site till completion of
soil/rock excavation and its transportation to the designated place. Vehicle shall be taken out
only for refuelling and maintenance if required.
i). Police verification certificates are required for supervisors and all the labours deployed at the site.
j). One supervisor of the contractor should always be available at site of work, when the work is in
progress.
k). Contractors have to follow the COVID norms as issued by the Department from time to time.
