Please answer the questions given below based on the case entitled : Study of
Farmers’ View on Ethics in Agriculture: The Case of Sonqur County.

1. Based on the review of literature the authors in the article have extracted
several dimensions that explain the concept of agricultural ethics. Do
you think the components of agricultural ethics presented in Table 1 are
comprehensive or some more components need to be added to fully
explain agricultural ethics? In the discussion section of the case some
suggestions in this direction have been given by the authors and you may
consider these also to frame your answer. Please keep the Indian
agricultural sector and its cultural and economic uniqueness in mind
while answering.

2. The article presents the farmer’s from Sonqur County’s viewpoint and
understanding of agricultural ethics. What are the key components of
their view. Are there any differences between the farmers view of
agricultural ethics and those which the review of research papers have led
to ? Elaborate.

3. You have studied the Western, Islamic and Indian philosophical

perspectives on ethics. Which frame work applies itself in the best way
for a better understanding of the man – nature relationship, and
sustainable agricultural practices.
