CHICHEN ITZÁ today we are going to talk about chichen itza

Chichen Itzá is the most famous Mayan city in the world, that is why this place is one of the
main archaeological sites of the Yucatan peninsula, in Mexico.

In 1988 This place was declared a cultural heritage of humanity and in 2007 it was recognized
(recoknicd)as one of the seven wonders of modern world.

The word CHICHEN ITZA derives from four mayan words.

CHI means mouth or edge CHEN means well ITZ means sorcerer(soorcer) HA means
water

As a result, the Mayan name means “At the mouth of the well of the water sorcerers”. This
expression refers to a cenote. What is a cenote? A cenote is a natural freshwater pond.

For the Mayans, a cenote was considered a sacred place because it was the main door to the
underworld.

The most impressive construction of this archaeological site is the KUKULKÁN pyramid. In
this construction, the Mayan entity Kukulkán was worshiped

THE MAYAN WORD KUKULKAN MEANS Feathered Serpent ()feder. serpent

In total, the pyramid has 365 steps. In Mayan symbology each step represented a day of the
Haab calendar, this agrees with the calendar we use today. If you visit this place during the
spring and autumn equinox, you will see the snake in motion. This event is amazing.
