Lesson 1: Sustainable Development

INTRODUCTION

This quarter, you will explored the effect of theater in today's world. You are to research
and explore various topics and concerns about your society and community, and to develop
scenarios that represent these themes. You will be expected to create short scenes using
theater and drama applications for various social development goals, with a focus on the role of
the Theater Director as the main lead in interpreting contemporary issues and putting together
the various artistic tasks in a production. This lesson will also cover the role of theater in
sustainable development. For numerous developmental messages, dramatic examples and
explanations on theater Environmental and Climate Change, Education, Healing and
Rehabilitation, Human Rights Promotion, Creative Industries, International Understanding,
Gender and Development; and, Reflection and Synthesis derived from theatrical performances
on development and social transformation.

All of the above performances focused on human rights, poverty, and peace as a way of
expressing what is going on in our country. This demonstrates how theater and the arts can be
powerful instruments for raising awareness, promoting initiative and creativity in addressing a
problem, and mobilizing the community to take action. All of this is part of what we refer to as
Development, Growth, advancement, good change, or the addition of physical, economic,
environmental, social, and demographic components are all examples of development. The goal
of development is to improve people's living standards and quality of life, as well as to create or
preserve jobs. Increase of regional income and employment possibilities without causing harm
to the environment the environment's resources.
