Example:

Accidents and past perfect progressive

Example:

What happened to Irma? Did she have an accident?

Yes, she did. She broke her leg when she was riding her bike in a hill.

What had you been doing before the class started?

I had been reviewing my notes for the exam.

Unit 3

Problems and past perfect simple

Example:

What’s wrong with the (menu) order?

I ordered fried fish and it’s grilled. Could you please change it?

Tell me two things you had done before you started your career at Certus.

I had finished high school and I had moved to a new house when I started my career at Certus.

Unit 4

Helping out and reported speech

Example:

When was the last time you helped a friend?

Two weeks ago. He was having problems with his laptop and I recommended a technician to repair it.
 Report this sentence: “I traveled to Jaen”

He said he had traveled to Jaen

Report this question: “Who is that singer?”

He is asking who that singer is.

Unit 5

Unreal conditionals

Example:

What would you do if you had a million dollars?

If I had a million dollars, I would buy my parents a big house.

What would you do if you were the president of Peru?

If I were the president, I would help poor people.

Unit 6

Finance

Example:

What do you usually do when you have a limited budget?

I usually try to buy affordable things, like food, and I avoid buying things I don’t need.

When was the last time you got your money’s worth for something?

I bought a new computer. It was a real bargain!

Unit 7

Politics

Example:

Where do your parents usually vote?

They usually vote in Chachapoyas.

How many candidates are there for the mayor office in your district?

There are ten candidates.

Unit 8

Causatives and permissives

Examples:

Did your school teachers make you sing the National Anthem on Mondays?

Yes, they did. They also made us say our prayers.

How many hours did your parents let you watch TV when you were a child?

My parents let me watch TV for three hours when I was a child

Recycling

Examples:

What do you recycle at home?

I always recycle papers and tin cans.

What should people upcycle in your city?

I think people should upcycle tires. They can be used as flower pots!

Unit 10

Movie making

Examples:

How did you feel the first time you watched your favorite feature film?

I felt amazed! I thought it was going to be boring, but the special effects were great!

What job would you like to have in the movie industry?

I’d love to be a makeup artist. I always watch makeup tutorials and I think I would do a great job in
horror movies!

Ejemplo:

Ejemplo:

Ejemplo:

Había terminado la escuela secundaria y me había mudado a una nueva casa cuando comencé mi
carrera en Certus.

Ayudar y reporta el habla

Ejemplo:

¿Cuándo fue la última vez que ayudaste a un amigo?

Hace dos semanas. Estaba teniendo problemas con su computadora portátil y le recomendé a un técnico
que la reparara.
 Informa de esta frase: "Viajé a Jaén"

Dijo que había viajado a Jaén

Reporta esta pregunta: "¿Quién es ese cantante?"

Está preguntando quién es ese cantante.

Condicionales irreales

Ejemplo:

¿Qué harías si tuvieras un millón de dólares?

Si tuviera un millón de dólares, le compraría a mis padres una casa grande.

¿Qué harías si fueras el presidente del Perú?

Si yo fuera el presidente, ayudaría a la gente pobre.

Finanzas

Ejemplo:

¿Qué sueles hacer cuando tienes un presupuesto limitado?

Por lo general, trato de comprar cosas asequibles, como comida, y evito comprar cosas que no necesito.

¿Cuándo fue la última vez que obtuviste el valor de tu dinero por algo?

Compré una computadora nueva. ¡Fue una verdadera ganga!

Ejemplo:

¿Dónde suelen votar tus padres?

Suelen votar en Chachapoyas.

Mis padres me dejaron ver la televisión durante tres horas cuando era niño.

Ejemplos:

¿Qué reciclas en casa?

Siempre reciclo papeles y latas.

¿Qué debería reciclar la gente en tu ciudad?

Creo que la gente debería reciclar los neumáticos. ¡Se pueden usar como macetas!

Realización de películas

Ejemplos:

¿Cómo te sentiste la primera vez que viste tu largometraje favorito?

¡Me sentí asombrado! Pensé que iba a ser aburrido, ¡pero los efectos especiales fueron geniales!

¿Qué trabajo te gustaría tener en la industria del cine?

Me encantaría ser maquilladora. ¡Siempre veo tutoriales de maquillaje y creo que haría un gran trabajo
