NOTES
I The reference point used in the calculations in this booklet is :
Longitudinal Midship
Transverse Centreline
Vertical Base Line
2 In un-symmetrical flooding cases, starboard side tanks have been considered as
damaged. Port side damage would be similar.
3 Deck Edge + 0.76 M on starboard side has been considered as points through which
progressive flooding can take place.

DAMAGED STABILITY INVESTIGATIONS

I Conditions o f Loading
The calculations for stability o f the ship in damaged condition has been done assuming the ship in
initial condilions hutore dani;~gu.I'hc initial condition is :

Damage Stability Requirements : Reg. 25 (3)
(a) The final water line shall be below tlie edge of any opening through which progressive tlooding can
take place.

(b) 111tlie final stages o f tlooding, angle of heel due to unsymmetrical flooding shall not exceed 25 Deg.

Provided that this angle may be increased to 30 Deg if no deck edge immersion occurs.
