The Two Cs: The Clock and the Compass

Write about 8 to 10 sentences about yourself. Why did you enroll in Nursing? How do you
see/perceive yourself 2 years from now? What unique attributes do the clock and compass have
that you can use in life?

Choosing a course to take in college has not been easy for me. I took Accountancy,
Business and Management when I was Senior High School and choosing a non-related course in
college gave me so much adjustments to make. However, with the influence of my mommy who
is a Registered Nurse, I became an aspirant nurse someday as well. When I enrolled in Nursing, I
haven’t realized at first why I chose the course. All I know was that it was my mother’s choice
for me. As semesters pass by and level accelerated, I was finally been able to experience being
exposed in a hospital duty. I saw the real scenario on how nurses work at hospital set-ups. As a
person, I love socializing with other people. I love people and lI ove chatting with them, being
around them, and taking care of them. These are very fulfilling to my soul. Me, being beside
every patient that was assigned to me, gave me so much realizations on why Nursing was meant
for me. One of the most rewarding aspects of a career in nursing is the ability to connect with our
patients on such an intimate level. Nursing career gave me the opportunity to help people in their
most vulnerable, and unexpected, moments. Two years from now, I perceive myself as a
Registered nurse who just got her first official job at a hospital. This first year of my work will
be my grounds as a fresh start in getting an experience on my way to be a successful nurse. The
unique attribute that the clock has that I can use in life is that time will not adjust for me nor stop
for my consideration. I am the one to work with the time that I am holding and I have to make
everything out of it worthy of the seconds I will spend. I should not be wasting my time but that
doesn’t mean that I am not allowed to get tired or rest. On the other hand, the unique attribute
that the compass has is that it gives direction. Our core values are like the compass. It’s a useful
tool to help us decide on which direction we would like to take. We have to go confidently in
achieving our goals but let us not forget that we could also wander while dreaming.
