INSTRUCTIONS
The emerging of reliable and more scientific ideas or theories in a specific phenomenon leads
to the gradual diminishing of the existing theories or ideas. However, human beings are
innate to love wisdom and truth for the welfare of oneself and the society as a whole.

Direction: Answer the following questions maximum of 5 sentences

1. Why the theory of heliocentrism contradicting geocentrism?

Heliocentrism contradicts geocentrism because heliocentrism is a proven fact and notion that
the Sun is the center of the solar system and of the known universe. On the other hand,
geocentrism is a belief practiced in ancient times that the Earth was the center of the universe
and that the other celestial bodies circled around it. However, the concept of geocentrism has
been disproven with compelling evidences such as the observation of Galileo that Jupiter’s
moons were orbiting around it, disproving that all celestial bodies orbited the Earth, as well
Keppler’s Law of Planetary Motion and mathematical equations which are still being used
today. Moreover,

2. Why the theory of evolution contradicting the theory of creation?

The Theory of Evolution contradicts the Theory of Creation because the Theory of Evolution
denotes that organisms evolve through natural selection for them to adapt gain genetic traits
that would aid them in survival in an environment. In contrast to evolution, the Theory of
Creation is the belief that life and everything else was created by a supernatural being.
Examples of contradictions between the two theories are the archaeological evidences of
human and animal evolution which challenge the creation theory that states humanity was
directly created by a supernatural being which suggest that no evolution should have
happened.

3. Why psychology is not under in philosophy?

Philosophy is known to be the study of human life while psychology is the study of the
human mind. Psychology cannot be under philosophy because they are two different
disciplines with different methods yet both of them have the same subject of study.
Psychology uses the scientific method in order to study the human mind while philosophy
stems its research on more transcendent problems such as existence, truth, morals, and
beauty in a non-empirical way where the results may still be open to debate. Moreover,
psychology and philosophy often do not coincide with each other because they both provide
differing solutions to a problem.
