Telephone & Video Call - Interview Tips

 Make sure you are somewhere quiet and free from interruptions – no family members or
colleagues disturbing you, phone switched off, etc…
 For a skype interview still dress smartly (a smart shirt is recommended), make sure the
internet connection is strong, make sure the lighting means they can see you and have
headphones available to avoid an echo.
 Make sure you are well researched on the companies website. We recommend 45-60 mins
research on a company before an interview. Make sure you know key information like where
their Head Office is, the countries they operate in, their annual turnover, there core business
activities, etc…
 Be very familiar with the job description. Be prepared to give clear and concise answers that
demonstrate your skills, experience and personality are a good fit for the opportunity.
 Explain why you think the opportunity and business are a good fit for your career and
personal aspirations.
 Do not discuss salary unless they raise the topic.
 Always thank them for their time at the end of the interview.
 Always try to give accurate, clear and concise answers. The most regularly received negative
feedback is people speak too much and do not give concise answers.
 Let the interviewer lead the interview. They have set questions they need to go through. At
the end of this feel free to ask any questions you have. The second most common negative
feedback we get is people interrupting the interviewer.
 Finally, relax and try to assess if this is the right opportunity for you!! 😊
