II. Answer the given problems and sketch the graph

1. An object is positioned at the origin of a set of axes. Two forces act upon it. The first has
magnitude 7 N and acts in the direction of the positive y axis. The second has magnitude 3 N and
acts in the direction of the negative x axis. Calculate the magnitude and direction of the resultant
force.

2. An object moves in the xy plane with a velocity of 15 m ss 1 in a direction 48◦ above the
positive x axis. Resolve this velocity into two components, one along the x axis and one along
the y axis.
