 Teaching Tips: Apple Counting
Using this file

You are able to print and photocopy these pages for your non-commercial classroom
and home use.

These play dough mats will help you combine a number and fine motor activity for your
students.

Demonstrate to the students how to roll play dough effectively. Show them how to roll a
ball using one flat hand and the other rolling in a circle on the top.

This demonstration will assist your students in feeling confident with the play dough. Lots of
practice will give them good fine motor strength.

Students make balls to add to the mat to show the number. Ask students to say the rhyme
as they roll and prepare the ‘apples’.
