Scenario
There have been a number of well reported and large scale information security breaches over the
past few years. This has highlighted the need and importance of information security in modern
organisations. One example is the Sony PlayStation security breach in 2011 which led to an
estimated 77 million customers account details (name, address, credit card details) being stolen. This
breach occurred through a sophisticated attack which also used SQL injection. It is still regarded as
one of the most significant and high-profile security breaches.

(This Sony example is not to be used in your research or answers).

This lab requires you to research one large scale, and well reported security breach and to answer
the following questions:-
1. What information was breached?
customers account details (name, address, credit card details)
2. How was the attack carried out?
sophisticated attack which also used SQL injection
3. What was the cost to the company?
$171 million
