Caldor Fire Emergency Closure

Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. §§ 551 and 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(a), and to protect natural resources and provide
for public safety, the following acts are prohibited within the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit.
This Order is effective from September 18, 2021, through December 31, 2021.

1. Going into or being upon the restricted area. The Caldor Fire Emergency Closure Area
begins at the intersection of FS trail 19E00 (Tahoe Rim Trail) and the LTBMU boundary
(LTBMU boundary) near Monument Peak, then continues south along the LTBMU
boundary to its intersection with California State Highway 89 (HWY 89) at the Alpine
County Line, then generally west and then north along HWY 89 to the intersection of HWY
89 and South Upper Truckee Road, then generally west and then north along South Upper
Truckee Road to FS Road 1110, then generally south along F1110 to the intersection of
Hawley Grade Trail (18E10), and then north along 18E10 to the intersection of US
Highway 50, then south along US Highway 50 (US 50) to the intersection of US 50 and the
LTBMU boundary, then north along the LTBMU boundary to the intersection with the
boundary of the Desolation Wilderness, then generally north along the Desolation
Wilderness boundary to the intersection of Tamarack Lake Trail (17E10), then north along
17E10 to the intersection of Glen Alpine Trailhead road (1216), then east along 1216 to
where the road crosses Glen Alpine Creek, then generally north along Glen Alpine Creek to
the shoreline of Fallen Leaf Lake, then east and then north along the shoreline of Fallen
Leaf Lake to the intersection of trail 17E74C and the Fallen Leaf Lake beach, then north
along 17E74C to the intersection of trail 17E74, then generally north along 17E74 to the
intersection of FS road 1301 at Fallen Leaf Campground, then east along FS road 1301 to
Fallen Leaf Lake Road, then south along Fallen Leaf Lake Road to the intersection with FS
road 13N81, then east along FS road 13N81 to the intersection of NFS trail 17E78G, then
north along 17E78G to the intersection with NFS trail 17E78D, then north along trail
17E78D to the intersection with the southern boundary of Camp Richardson Resort, then
east and then north along the Camp Richardson Resort permit boundary to the intersection
with HWY 89, then generally east along HWY 89 to the intersection of the LTBMU
boundary, then south and then east along the LTBMU boundary to Viking Road and Lake
Tahoe Boulevard, then generally south along Lake Tahoe Boulevard to the intersection with
Boulder Mountain Drive, then north along Boulder Mountain Drive to the intersection with
the LTBMU boundary, then generally west and then south along the LTBMU boundary,
then along the LTBMU boundary to the intersection of FS road 12N20A, then east along
the 12N20A road until the intersection with Wintoon Drive, then along Wintoon Drive
generally east to the intersection with North Upper Truckee Road, then south along North
Upper Truckee Road to the intersection with US 50, then northeast along US 50 to the
intersection with Pioneer Trail, then east along Pioneer Trail to the intersection of Needle
Peak Road, then east along Needle Peak Road to the intersection with Ski Run Boulevard,
then south on Ski Run Boulevard to the intersection with the LTBMU boundary, then south
and then east along the LTBMU boundary to the intersection with FS road 12N40A
(Roundabout Road), then along FS road 12N40A to the intersection with FS road 12N40,
then generally east along FS Road 12N40 to the intersection with FS road 12N42C, then
east along 12N42D to the intersection with road 12N40, then east along the 12N40 road to
the intersection with FS road 13N52, then along FS road 13N52 to the LTBMU boundary,

then along the LTBMU boundary then continues southeast back to the starting point, as
shown on the attached map. 36 C.F.R. § 261.52(e).

Pursuant to 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:

1. Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting
force in the performance of an official duty.

2. Persons with Forest Service Permit No. FS-7700-48 (Permit for Use of Roads, Trails, or
Areas Restricted by Regulation or Order), specifically exempting them from this Order.

3. Persons with a Forest Service special use authorization for an electric transmission line,
an oil or gas pipeline, or communications site may access their permit areas to conduct
administrative and emergency functions to property and related assets.

4. Commercial recreation special-use permit holders and their customers are not exempt
from this Order. However, commercial recreational special-use permit holders, under
the terms and conditions of their permit, may access their permit areas to conduct
administrative functions and to protect property and related assets. Recreation
residence permit holder are not exempt from this order.

5. Persons with a Forest Service non-special use written authorization to conduct non-
recreational activities, such as harvesting timber or forest products.

6. Owners or lessees of land and residents of such private landholdings, to the extent to
access their land.

These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions contained in 36 C.F.R. Part 261, Subpart
A.

A violation of these prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or
$10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than 6 months, or both. 16 U.S.C. § 551
and 18 U.S.C. §§ 3559, 3571, and 3581.
