II. Identify the different social institutions & it’s role in self-development

Social institutions are as the family, education, religion, the economy and work,
government, and health care.
1. Family has a role on one’s self development as the family is the first people that a person can
develop such personalities, the family has the influence can a person can assess from the parents
and relatives and their surroundings.
2. Education has an impact on one’s role because it gives us the knowledge on different subject
and people who we can interact with different characteristics that affects our self-development.
3.Religion influence us on certain beliefs example; Christianity, Catholicism, Islamic, etc. People
have different beliefs and it affects our roles and perceptions and faith on God.
4. Economy has affected our way of living, many choices we have to make about work, leisure,
consumptions and how much to save.
5. Work/career has an effect on one’s self development especially resulting to stress and hours of
labor that may encounter on the work field, it may develop negative impact on one’s personality
and attitude.
5. The Government plays a significant part of our self- development in terms of electing a stable
government for the people may able to have a better life and environment instead of a corruption
and toxic leadership.
6. Health care has a role on self- development especially on the quality health care service, that
needs to be accessible by all regardless on race, gender and social status, because if a health care
system has good services it is possible that it can reduce a lot of stress in accessing medication.

III.What have I become…?

Elementary Years
During my elementary years I was a playful and cheerful kid. I was fond of
playing after school hours with my friends and classmates. I was not responsible on
certain things, I always needed help from my parents and elder people to understand
things especially if it was new to me. For me that time going to school was just
participating during classes. I wasn’t the brightest kid nor punctual type, that’s why I
had bad grades at these years because I wasn’t responsible enough on my academics,
I was more into playing, watching television with other kids and exploring stuffs with
such curious mind.
High School Years
High School years was an enjoyable yet studios year for me. This was the years I
was becoming responsible and I was developing a matured mindset through the
succeeding years. I’ve developed competence, diligence and punctuality as a student.
I had high grades because of the positive character I keep on developing yet I know I
still have a long way to go, but I know I was responsible than what personalities I
have during my elementary years. I have joined school organizations, quiz bee’s and
competitions that gave myself contribution’s on constantly developing my own
character.

Starting my College Years

Currently starting college at the moment, I know that college will not be an easy
path but I am grateful for what progress I’ve achieved this far. Knowing that having
competitions with other students will not make me a better student, I believe that
students must help each other for us to be able to survive on the coming years ahead
because of what I’ve observe all students have great potentials that should not be
neglected by others who strive independently. I have gained a mindset of helping
people especially this time of pandemic where students are struggling on attaining the
lessons and information. I have developed the confidence and social skills in
interacting and starting college made me realize to value the time you, to value time
management. Unlike High School, College is more complex and difficult but if
having a good attitude and dedication to the course throughout, will certainly make
me a great student and hopefully a successful professional in the near future.
