RESOLUTION REQUESTING DR. BALDWIN G. JALLORINA, DIRECTOR IV,

PHILIPPINE CENTER FOR POST-HARVEST DEVELOPMENT AND

MECHANIZATION FOR ASSISTANCE FOR THE POST-HARVEST DEVELOPMENT

AND MECHANIZATION THROUGH THE RICE COMPETITIVE ENHANCEMENT

FUND-MECHANIZATION COMPONENT

WHEREAS, agriculture plays a significant role in the Philippine Economy especially in the Province of

Iloilo. It involves about 40 percent of Filipino workers and it contributes an average of 20 percent of the

Gross Domestic Product;

WHEREAS, the Iloilo Provincial Government vigorously pursues interventions for agricultural

development in the province considering that it has a total of 48,948.27 hectares of irrigated and 79,000

hectares of non-irrigated rice land;

WHEREAS, the said equipment will benefit 17, 000 farmers in the Province of Iloilo by

maximizing land and labor productivity thereby increasing economic returns;

WHEREAS, should this request for post-harvest equipment be granted, these will be

kept in Barangay Nanga, Pototan, Iloilo where the Agri-Aqua Research and Technology Center

of the Iloilo Provincial Government is located. It also has a machinery shed of 2,500 square

meters in the said center;

NOW THEREFORE, on motion of Honorable Domingo B. Oso, Jr. and upon the

sponsorship of the Honorable Rolando B. Distura which was duly moved and unanimously

seconded,

RESOLVED, as it is hereby Resolved, to request Dr. Baldwin G. Jallorina, Director IV,

Philippine Center for Post-Harvest Development and Mechanization for Assistance for the Post-

Harvest Development and Mechanization through the Rice Competitive Enhancement Fund-

Mechanization Component;

RESOLVED FURTHER, to furnish copies of this Resolution to Dr. Balwdin Jallorina,

Director IV, Department of Agriculture, Maharlika Highway, Science City of Muñoz, 3119

Nueva Ecija, for his information and appropriate action.
