DELINQ, THE NEW ONLINE SERVICES MARKETPLACE!!!
BACKGROUND
With the pandemic disrupting what we knew as
normal and inducing a new setting which is now
referred to as "the new normal," we have seen an
increase in unemployment as some businesses
have closed and others have downsized their
workforce. With the informal sector being
severely affected, the rate of unemployment
skyrocketed, as the informal sector employs over
80% of the working class. After being confronted
with the harsh reality of unemployment, an
18-year-old A-Level student named Chriswell R
Mashaka set out on a journey to find a solution.
To address this issue, he created the Delinq
online platform.
WHAT IS DELINQ
DELINQ is an online platform that aims at
addressing the issue of unemployment by
connecting businesses, professionals, and
tradesmen to a large network hence creating
more employment opportunities as they will be
exposed to a larger online market. In general, it
bridges the gap between customers and service
providers or businesses.
Chriswell R Mashaka
founded DELINQ with a vision to eradicate
poverty in Africa in mind. The platform is one of
the steps towards the bigger goal. DELINQ is
centered on adding value to Zimbabwean
communities and improving the lives of
everyday Zimbabweans. Equal opportunities are

availed to every Zimbabwean, hence reducing
inequalities. When someone is employed or sells
his/her services through the platform, that is one
step out of poverty as the person will be able to
afford general necessities of life which include
food, education, and healthcare. The quality of

roundabout intersection. However, they were
very impatient and unwilling to join the long
queue. So, to bypass the long queue, they drove
into adjacent lanes which were meant for the
oncoming vehicles. That was possible because
of the transient utilization of oncoming lanes by
oncoming vehicles. Such unscrupulous
behavior is not uncommon at other

certain quick fixes to problems that stem from
wrong motives, such as greed, selfishness, and
impatience. Needless to say, that many of the
solutions that backfire are those that are
realized using unconventional approaches and
may have certain aspects that deviate from
ethical norms. Of course, there are times when
we may have to improvise to get things done
quickly, but sometimes we just have to
modestly admit that we have no immediate
solutions and patiently follow conventionally
acceptable means to solve the problem. Of
course, that doesn't mean that you just have to
sit and relax. You may have to take some
cautious action which will not worsen the
problem further. So, before attempting to solve

a life problem you may have to critically
evaluate the possible repercussions of a
solution before committing. Think of the impact
that it may have on both yourself and other
people around you.
From the misguided behavior of motorists at
the Mbudzi roundabout which elicited the
formation of a sticky traffic jam, I managed to
infer an interesting lesson on patience and
sound judgment when making decisions. It is
an unusual lesson that I learned from a quite
familiar scenario. So yes, sometimes the most
amazing lessons can be drawn from situations
from which you do not expect to learn much
from. In my case, it was motorist behavior at a
congested intersection. What unexpected
lessons can you also draw from the things you
encounter daily? Well, you have to find out. Of
course, it is exhilarating to discover such
lessons, but what is most important is taking
the lesson to heart and applying it when the
need arises.

be effective in
customer
service and
satisfy
customers. You need a
combination of skills that you
tap into depending on the
customer service situation.
This probably explains why in
addition to the resources they
invested as owners,
entrepreneurs end up
borrowing money to augment
their capital. We all know a
company's capital structure
constitutes the mix of equity
and debt on its balance sheet.
Though there is no specific
level of each that determines
what a healthy company is,
lower debt levels and higher
equity levels may be
preferable. Usually, a company
starts with equity, and then as
its prospects strengthen, it
gradually starts adding debt
to its balance sheet.
Each type of capital comes
with drawbacks and it is
important for the company's
management to find a
suitable balance. We all know
that capitalization changes
are happening all the time in
businesses and companies. A
capitalization change refers to
a modification of a company's
capital structure i.e. the
percentage of debt and equity
used to finance operations
and growth. Running a
business with a poverty of
customer service skills
impacts negatively on the
business and its future. A
service provider ought to have
a mix of skills to deal with
whatever situation comes up
during business. There are
times when the service
provider needs to be fast,
there are times when the
service provider must be
assertive, there are times
when the service provider
must be patient, and so forth.
Situations vary in service and
multiple skills are required for
greater customer service
efficacy.

Dear Single Mom
Hi, my dear sister, my name is
Chiedza Princily Mandinika, I
am 30 years old and I am a
single mom to a
son soon be a 3-year-old little
boy.
I know movies and magazines
at times tend to glamourize
single motherhood and
society makes you
feel like you are failing if ever
you show any signs of
cracking under all that
pressure you are under. Day
in day out, you feel the need to
make it look easy, you can't
afford to look like you are
failing.
I need you to understand
something my dear, you don't
have to make it look easy
because it is not. All
those sleepless nights, not
knowing what you are going
to feed your child, not sure if
you'll make rent or
their school fees, knowing very
well you are all those children

have and that giving up is not
an option, all those long hours
you spend working overtime
just so you can make a little
extra cash, the
days and nights you spent at
the hospital with your baby, all
alone with no one to lean on,
the father not

holds, it's not easy. You do not

easy, own your truth and keep

Make every day your success
story, you do not have to be
extraordinary just make sure
you make
extraordinary choices each
day. Choose to wake each
morning, adjust your crown
and fight your good
fight. You are already doing a
good job don't let anyone tell
you any different.
I know society labels you,
some people assume just
because you at a single
mother you are loose or that
you are a failure, remember
there is nothing single about
you, you have to give your
children double the
love, double the attention,
double the affection and you
have to work twice as hard,
there is nothing
single about you, your marital
status is not a reflection of
who you are as a mother,
there is no double
mother, in the end, we are all
mothers, this is why I've
always been against the
phrase "Single Mother",
there is no double or triple
mother. You have made it this
far because you are strong,
courageous, and
beautiful inside and out.

Don't let society dictate who
you are, "if they aren't your
maker, they don't get
to be your mirror", teach
yourself to shut out the noise.

So myself as a Financial Agent, today after work l had to take a trip to Mbare around the
Mupedzanhamo area to do quick financial research to evaluate how are the cash flows doing in that
environment, however from my analysis l got to realize that Mbare is a very active business spot, l
saw some potential vendors selling vegetables, bales, electricals, grains, kitchenware, hardware,
crafting, fast foods, furniture, etc. the list is endless.

I could also see some latest Benz, Range Rovers, and BMWs parked around Matapi flats, l also had to
confirm from one of the powerful Mbare vendors Joel Mabasa well known as "Baba Zoro" who bought
a brand new UD 90 truck last week for US$85 000 just from selling potatoes, butternuts and sweet
potatoes. Also, Chengetai Makoni well known as "Mai Bee" bought a business stand in Ruwa for US$87
000 in June this year and she testified she made it all from selling hardware materials.

Well, the results from my research are too many but from my observation l was so disappointed to
the last point to realize that its the late majority which is mostly participating and making money
around Mbare environment, l couldn’t see youths participating, l couldn’t see youths selling potatoes,
l couldn’t see youths selling hardware, etc. Now reflecting on what is happening on social media, with
just a click you will see and hear youths always complaining about economic hardships yet in real
life they are not participating in the business environments, the time which youths spend going out
for gym, photoshoot, hanging around in town, playing FIFA, playing GTA, playing Snooker, watching
pornography, watching Star Life, etc. All that time could be used wisely to do essential activities that
bring income. So from my conclusion l figured out that youths need to be educated rather than being
given money, heritage, assets, etc. which they end us squandering coz they don’t know the value of
money. Youths should be taught how to save, how to sell, how to serve customers, how to manage
stock etc. This weekend again I’m still yet to discover what is happening in Chitungwiza and I am
looking forward to engaging with youths that will take a challenge to participate in the business
environment.

It’s no longer a high time for youths around 20 years to be still depending on parents, a youth should
employ him/herself, a youth should pay bills and bring food on his/her table without any support
from the parents, a youth should buy beer for him/herself not to crook and pump out the
hard-earned money from the innocent parents. Inbox me and let's discuss the way forward if you

I See Myself Owning One of the Largest
Workshops in Africa says
Memory Bere.
A lthough much has
been done to
eliminate the
patriarchal system in society,
there are still some parts of
society where people still
believe that there are sectors
of work designed for men
and not women. Some of
these sectors are electrical
engineering, civil engineering,
high technology sectors, and
the automobile industry.
Workshops, career
counseling sessions, and
other awareness campaigns
have been done to instill a
new perspective that is
gender should not be a
barrier for one to break into
these sectors but despite the
efforts, the fields remain
male-dominated. Some
studies have been done to
ascertain the cause and the
findings have pointed to fear,
stigma, and lack of support
as some of the major reasons
why very few women are
breaking into these areas.
Memory, however, chose to
be different and managed to
break into these
male-dominated sectors, she
became a motor mechanic
in the process.
If you have been on Twitter,
you may have come across
conversations about Memo
Makanika (Memory Bere) and
what she does best which is
fixing cars. She has left many
in awe. Memory has dazzled
many when
she posts about her
profession. She has managed

to inspire many with the
display of confidence in her
job as well as being proud of
her passion.
Memory Bere is a
30-year-old woman, a motor
mechanic by profession with
a special focus on diesel and
petrol light vehicles. Born in a
family of 4 of 2 boys and 2
girls in Chipinge, Memo, who
is the last born, says that she
knew that she was going to
be a motor mechanic when
she was very young.
“I think I was born to be a
mechanic because I started
playing with spanners when I
was young.” According to her,
she knew that motor
mechanics was something

she had from the inside. She
also had exposure as she
grew up and this kept the
dream alive. Memory says
that her father inspired her to
become a mechanic. She
used to be around when her
dad's car was being fixed by
the mechanics. She tells of a
moment in which she
discouraged her father to get
the car fixed by mechanics,
suggesting that her father
could fix his car on his own.
“My dad inspired me to be a
mechanic because when I
was in grade five my dad
used to have a Datsun 1500
and it gave him problems, as
a result, it was always at the
garage being fixed, so I was
always beside, being his
spanner girl, playing around
the car, passing him the
spanners he would have
requested, unscrewing and
tightening bolts. At grade six, I
was now able to remove the
tyre, cleaning the carburetor
of that car, that’s when I
developed the love of fixing
cars when I was in grade 5”
In her career, memory says
here and there, she has
faced gender stereotypes, “I
have faced gender
stereotypes!!! However, I
speak up and I will speak up
and separate myself from
stigma”, says Memo

will never give up on her
