2.2 Capacity
The BTS3012AE has the following benefits in terms of capacity:
z One BTS3012AE cabinet supports up to 12 TRXs. The maximum configuration of
a site containing only one cabinet is S4/4/4.
z The configuration of a site containing a BTS3012AE can reach up to S12/12/12
by means of cabinet groups. Each site supports 1–36 TRXs.
2.5 Antenna
The BTS3012AE has the following benefits in terms of antenna:
z Supports Remote Electric Tilt (RET) antennas
z Supports dual polarization antennas
This reduces the number of antennas in a cell.
z Supports Tower-Mounted Amplifiers (TMAs)
This improves the receive sensitivity.
2.8 Installation
The BTS3012AE is easy to install. It has the following benefits in terms of installation.
z The BTS3012AE can be installed on a cement floor, building roof, or tower.
z All the external cables are introduced into the cabinet through the bottom of the
cabinet. A 200 mm high space is reserved for the cabling, which greatly facilitates
the maintenance.
z Field installation personnel only need to secure the cabinet and install the
external cables.
The simple and fast installation of the hardware and software greatly reduces the
installation time and facilitates fast network deployment.

The DFCU and DFCB have the same functions as the DDPU and the DCOM, so you
can choose either of the following schemes for the DAFU subrack of the BTS3012.
The DFCB must be connected with the DFCU for use.

reported results and then sends the results to the OMC.
z Ensuring that the BTS3102AE has an optimum temperature
The heat exchanger heats the BTS3012AE and the fans dissipate the heat for the
BTS3012AE. When the temperature exceeds the threshold, the system
generates alarms.

Remote maintenance is carried out through a Graphic User Interface (GUI) and
topological view. You can see the name, type, location, number, and running status of
each NE through the GUI interface.
You can view the detailed performance data, alarm data, and configuration data of an
NE.
You can also operate or maintain an NE through the topological view.
6 Reliability
Redundancy Design
The BTS3012AE has a redundancy design. The key clock bus, control bus, data bus,
and the DTMU modules use 1+1 backup mode. The BTS3012AE also supports the
transceiver (TRX) mutual aid.
System Monitoring
The BTS3012AE can automatically detect and diagnose faults in the hardware or
software and report them through alarms. It can also detect environmental status and
report abnormalities in time.
system has self-healing capability. Error tolerance of the BTS3012AE is shown in the
following aspects.
Task Monitoring
When the software is active, the task monitoring function can monitor any possible
fault in the software or hardware. In addition, detected faults can be reported. Task
status and system abnormalities can also be monitored.
Data Check
The system can perform regular or event-driven checks on data consistency, restore
the data consistency selectively or preferably, and output related logs and alarms.

A Technical Specifications
B Glossary
A
A device which radiates and/or receives radio signals. When working as a
transmitter, it converts high frequency current to electromagnetic waves;
Antenna
when working as a receiver, it coverts electromagnetic waves to high
frequency current.
B
Baseband Baseband is a form of modulation in which the information is applied directly
onto the physical transmission medium.
BSS In GSM the Base Station System is a term given to a BSC (Base Station
Controller) and the BTS (Base Transceiver Station) associated with it. The
number of BTS associated with a BSC is dependent on the manufacturer.
Although not mandatory, through interpretation of the Abis interface standard
BTS and BSC employed within a BSS will always be supplied by the same
manufacturer.
The BSS is the physical equipment used to give radio coverage to a
determined geographical zone called a cell. Functionally, a BSS is
subdivided into BSC and BTS.
Base Transceiver A Base Transceiver Station terminates the radio interface. It allows
Station transmission of traffic and signaling across the air interface. The BTS
includes the baseband processing, radio equipment, and the antenna.
C
Radio network object that can be uniquely identified by a User Equipment
Cell from a (cell) identification that is broadcasted over a geographical area from
one UTRAN Access Point. A Cell is either FDD or TDD mode.
A sine wave, whose bandwidth is much higher than the bandwidth of a signal
Carrier
and, which can be identified by amplitude, frequency, and phase.
H
The transfer of a user’s connection from one radio channel to another (can
Handover
be the same or different cell).
R
The most common type of diversity, where a mobile device uses two
physically separate antennas to combine signals from the two antennas to
Receive diversity
reduce the impact of spatial variations in signal strength and thus increase
the average data rate available - sometimes dramatically.
T
A Tower Mounted Amplifier (TMA) is a lower noise amplifier installed close to the
TMA
antenna.
TRX A transmitter and receiver housed together in a single unit and having some
circuits in common, often for portable or mobile use.
