PIRQUITAS MINING PROJECT EQUIPMENT NO. 373-GC-434
JUJUY - ARGENTINA, FALCON UF1500 GRAVITY CONCENTRATOR,
DESCRIPTION OF EQUIPMENT OPERATION
1. The UF1500 bowl is accelerated to the concentrating speed set within the Autopac.
using the PLC-supervised Variable Frequency Drive supplied by Falcon.
2. Slurry is introduced to the UF1500 by opening the feed pinch valve at the exit point of
the agitated tank. This function is performed automatically at the correct time by the Falcon
Autopac.
3. Concentrate builds up below the variable lip near the discharge point of the UF1500
bow! while tailings flow continuously out the tailings launder.
4. Compressed air is applied through an automated pneumatic proportional valve to the
variable lip. The compressed air changes the exit diameter of the bow! according to a
progression defined by the user. This lip progression creates space below the lip in which
Concentrate accumulates. The rate and extent of diameter change is controlled by the PLC
within the Autopac supplied by Falcon. Lip progression is tailored to suit the requirements
of each installation.
5. The feed pinch valve closes at the end of the concentration portion of the cycle, typically
about 2-3 minutes.
6. The feed piping and bow! empty themselves of slurry. (A user-settable timer is used to
control this ‘rinse delay’. Typical rinse delay time: 5 seconds.)
7._ Atthe end of the rinse delay, the
UF1500 bow! is decelerated to the
rinsing speed set within the Autopac
using the supplied VFD/Dynamic Brake
under supervision of the PLC.
8. Upon reaching rinsing speed, water
sprays on the concentrate through
nozzles. The sprays are controlled by
solenoids that are in turn controlled by
the PLC. The concentrate is washed to
the base of the bowl and then under the
rotor baffle. Finally, the concentrate
exits the bow! into a launder below the
bowl. Duration of the rinsing operation
is set by the user but is typically ~45
seconds for the UF1500. Nozzles can
be individually adjusted to suit the
washing requirements of each
application.
9. The cycle returns to 1. above and
keeps on repeating itself.
