1. SOME/ANY

SOME – affirmative sentences (+); plural nouns and *uncountable nouns

I need some books. I need some fresh air.

ANY – questions and negative sentences (? , -); plural and uncountable nouns

Do you need any pens/help?

I don't need any pens/help. Thanks.

2. A LITTLE/NOT MUCH – uncountable nouns

She ate a little rice.

She didn't eat much rice.

We use this when we talk about small quantity of something (kada pričamo o maloj količini nečega).

3. A FEW/NOT MANY – plural nouns

My brother has a few books about superheroes.

He doesn't know many people.

We use this when we talk about small number of something (mali broj nečega).

4. MANY/A LOT OF

MANY – questions and negative sntences (?, -); plural nouns

A LOT OF – affirmative sentences (+); plural and uncountable nouns

Are there many students in your class?

There aren't many students in my class.

There are a lot of students in my class.

5. HOW MUCH/HOW MANY

How much money do you have? (uncountable nouns)

How many friends do you have? (plural)

* uncountable nouns are nouns we „cannot count“ (nebrojive imenice): milk, sugar, water, tea, coffee,
time, money, violence, help...
