Evidence: My presentation outline

A. Find a topic of personal interest. Imagine you are going to present that topic
orally to your teacher and classmates at school. For this part of the evidence
you need to carry out exhaustive research in order to be able to present all the
necessary information related to your selected topic. Report the most important
aspects of your research through a brainstorm of the ideas and concepts that
you think will be relevant to the presentation.

Example of topic: Aviation.

• Aviation refers to the use of commercial and non-commercial aircrafts

for transportation of people or goods.

• The A380, manufactured by the Airbus Industry, is the biggest plane

ever made.

TOPIC: PETS AND THEIR BENEFITS

My name is Ferley Gallego and I would very much like to talk to you about pets.

In this exhibition we will explore the benefits they provide and the responsibilities
that we must take into account when choosing one based on our tastes and / or
needs.

Basically, I will talk about: benefits, alerts and responsibilities.

Nothing compares to the joy of coming home and finding a faithful companion.
Unconditional love for a pet can provide more than companionship. Pets can also
decrease stress, improve heart health, and even help children with their emotional
and social skills.

Research on human-animal interactions is still relatively new. Some studies have

shown positive health effects, but the results were mixed.
An estimated 68% of US households have a pet. But who benefits from an animal? And what
kind of pet brings health benefits?

For the past ten years, NIH has partnered with the Mars Corporation's WALTHAM Center for Pet
Nutrition to answer questions like this by funding research studies. The scientists are analyzing
results are the possible physical and mental health benefits for different animals, from fish to
guinea pigs, dogs and cats.

The positive influence of mascots in human health and well-being has been widely recognized
embracing psychological, physiological, therapeutic and psychosocial aspects. The role of
facilitators in motivational and physical therapy of numerous diseases has permitted that the
positive effects be used at a therapeutic level. Additionally, animals have been recognized as a
protective factor against cardiovascular diseases and to reduce stress. They have also been
identified as psychological support, to diminish loneliness and as a social lubricant and improves
your mood

Interaction with animals has been shown to lower cortisol levels (a stress-related hormone) and
lower blood pressure.

According to the study by the Affinity Foundation on the bond between animals and people, the
first concepts that most children associate when asked about their relationship with their dog or
cat are: "care", "feed" and " play". These are the values of responsibility that companion animals
transmit to the little ones.

However, it must be considered that these man-animal relationships involve some zoonotic risks
that must be taken into account, especially in immunocompromised people or people who are
allergic to certain animals, having pets in the home can do more harm than good. This is where
the veterinarian must play an important role in advising on the responsible ownership of pets.
Likewise, it is essential that the owner knows what the legal obligations of owning a pet are.

Finally, as children grow, they can help with the different tasks of caring for the animal. We can
adapt the responsibilities of children according to their age. The little ones can take care of the
animals by having clean water daily, feeding, brushing and washing them, and the older ones
can take them out for walks and take on other responsibilities of greater importance.

In conclusion, having a pet and sharing with it is important for the tranquility and health of many
people, they make our lives happy and we make them, obviously being responsible and
respectful, since we cannot forget that they are beings that feel and suffer. the same way we do.

Feel free to ask, does anyone have any questions or comments on this?
B. Now, structure your presentation using the Signpost language learnt during this
learning activity. Present your outline through presentation cards. Use as many
cards as you need.

Remember: Each presentation card should include a heading,

a phrase at the bottom, a number and it should be organized
by numbering and bulleting.
