PROJECT PROPOSAL

ABEN 4511
Machine Design for AB Production

Proposed Project Title: Wheeled Operated Multinozzle Sprayer

Justification:
Sprayer is an essential device in applying herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers to
agricultural crops. Sprayers come in variety of sizes and form, typically backpacks with spray
guns. However, the disadvantages of this system are that it is very heavy, has to be operated by
hand and moreover carrying it on the shoulder is very tire some considering that the average age
of Filipino workers in agricultural sector is 60 years old, based on 2017 survey of the Department
of Agriculture.
This project is an attempt for providing an innovative type of sprayer where comfort and
spraying capacity will be increased leading to more agricultural productivity. Its potential users
are the aging farmers of the country. More so, with its features that are beyond the traditional
labor-requiring sprayers, this could also attract potential users in younger ones. The design
components are laid out in its simplest yet efficient form so that the possible market value of the
project could be sold in a pocket-friendly to engage its potential users in highest number.
The project is mainly powered by the rotary movement of the wheel caused by pushing
the cart. It will be linked to the piston of the spraying pump that moves up and down to create
pressure which will be further used to spray.
Listed below are the major components of the proposed subjects.

1. Base frame
2. Adjustable nozzle stand
3. Nozzle
4. Piston
5. Sprayer tank (plastic)
6. Connecting rod (Controls the upward and downward action of the piston; linked to the
wheel)
7. Tank holder
8. Nozzle valve
9. Handle
10. Splitter (equally distributes pressure to the nozzles)
11. Gears
12. Wheel
