Academic Performance of the Senior High School Students

Wattpad is a social platform that connects people through words and allows them to
discover and share stories. It is a community that is diverse in terms of geography, hobbies, and
languages. Anyone may read or write on wattpad using any device: phone, tablet, or computer.
This form of online entertainment is growing in popularity, with the majority of viewers being
teenagers or students. As we all know, there’s a lot of teen-agers reading different genres of story
in wattpad, especially teen-ager girls and some of teen-agers who reading in wattpad are keeping
awake in long time at night, and wattpad can also affect their studies.

Wattpad is an excellent software for teenagers who want to improve their writing, reading,
understanding, and creative abilities. However, for those teenagers who use it excessively, this
software may be harmful. Wattpad can be an excellent or awful app depending on how a user
perceives or uses it. According to studies, reading wattpad has a negative impact on students'
academic performance because most of them are addicted to it, which has a negative impact on
their grades because they spend more time reading fiction stories on wattpad than doing their
homework and other school-related activities.

academic performance at school. Things happen as a result of the choices we make, and Wattpad
is one of those choices. If a pupil allows this thing to govern him or her, they will be the one in

Review of Related Literature

According to Michael (2016), if you don’t know what Wattpad is, it’s a system that
allows virtually anyone to publish almost any genre of work for free. Despite the fact that
Wattpad does not pay its authors in the same way that a publishing business does, there are still
many advantages to using it as a new writer. In fact, as soon as I finish my first novel, I plan to
publish it there. Why bother if I'm not going to get paid? Due of the benefits it can provide.

According to Renata( 2017)et. al. Juan Luis Suárez, Wattpad doesn’t exactly meet
the criteria of traditional literature. It can be accessed on mobile phones; it has a nearly global
community; it functions like a social network; it represents the concepts of transmedia and
convergence, which Henry Jenkins and others have theorized about; it has developed a
multichannel network through Wattpad Studios, and it channels the stories with the most
potential towards traditional publishing; it represents the concepts of transmedia and
convergence, which Henry Jenkins and others have theorized about; it has developed a
multichannel network through Wattpad Studios and it channels the stories with the most All of
this is, however, driven by the human impulse to tell and read stories.
