What are the economic, geopolitical and meteorological impacts of climate change to
Philippines?

Answer:
We all know that climate change has devastating impact in terms of economic, geopolitical and
meteorological. In terms of economic impact, as sea levels rise and temperatures continue to
creep up, Philippines economy are at risk. Resources, labor productivity, and entire
infrastructures are threatened by the results of a changing climate. Climate change has the
potential to damage crop productivity, and may also affect agricultural production, consumption,
and food security. Moreover, the economic impact of climate change could have changes in
product prices, sooner or later having negative effects on Philippine’s economy. In our country,
developing economical adaptation and growth strategies is very important, not only to support
domestic agricultural production, but also to carry a wide economic growth. Sustaining and
developing an economy is a key goal for the Philippine government. Recent natural disasters
seriously affected the crops and livestock that resulted to extreme loss in production including
human lives. In terms of geopolitical impacts of climate change, Philippines is considered to be
highly vulnerable, and as such it will face a variety of challenges that have an effect on politics
and international relations. In recent years, other countries has experienced from even more
violent storms like Typhoon Haiyan. Besides the obvious environmental consequences, climate
change risks hinder the country’s economic development and causing resource shortages. All of
this would have broad and lasting implications in the Philippines.
