The subjects were mainly 6th graders from 16 primary schools and 9th graders from 15 junior high schools. The others were from about 1,100 households in 13 districts, from several factories city. Age of the subjects ranged from 8 to 19 years old, however, the number of subjects was dominated by the age groups of 11, 12, 14 and 15 years of age. Mean values and various percentile figures of body height and body an industrial area, and also included 469 draftees from Taipei weight for each age and sex groups were calculated and tabulated. The data obtained in the present study were also compared with those of earlier studies. Some results revealed as follows: 1, There are significant difference in height and weight between boys and girls except those of age groups 8, 9, 10 and 13. Girls of 11 and 12 years old are taller and heavier than their male counterparts, However, boys are significantly taller than girls from age 14 to 19, and significantly heavier from age 15 to 19. The annual gain of body height in boys was greatest between 12 and 13 years old, followed by 13 to 14 years old. In gl, it was sreatest between 10 and 11 years old, followed by 9 to 10 years old. The annual gain of body weight in boys was gredtest between 13 and 14 years old, followed by 12 to 13 years old. Th and 13 years old, followed by 10 to 11 years old. 2. The SOth percentile figures of body height and weight of both sexes are in between the 10th and 25th per centiles of the American youth, and somewhat lower than Japanese mean figures. 3. The incidence of obesity ranged from 5.0 to 15.7%. Higher incidence was observed in both sex groups of 12 years old, and in 13 years old boys. Lower incidence was observed in 8 and 16 to 19 years old groups. 4, The body height and weight values are much greater than those observed in 1932 and 1954, and slightly greax ter than those reported during the period of 1970 to 1977, it was greatest between 12 Key words: nutritional assessment, youth, body height, body weight. fe PRA + Acci e+ Walia sata iB WOR 69 “E83 A718 AMAR + ERA 18 (LE PME 15 MA PHS TH tH 16 BRB OA EME BE + SEL eP 13 (URE AMER 1,100 RR R— MCRL ep BW IRB GENE GATED BNR > WEG RM > HA 5,163 A» ee 4,491 A + SE 9,654 A © EAGLE REM > El 8 ARIE 19 A 12 SEAR» LL AI" > 12 > 14 Be 15 Ba AMES © HGR RINE : HER + 9 > 10 B13 RAB > A HH > ER o 11H 12 HAA Ae SS + AO EU GY A A 1d ES AE eo Hh 1d FR} + ME EI > SLO OY RR EE ST LI LAR RA ERE > BALL 12 I 13 MIA > 13 S14 PRM ek 5 HARRI 10 B11 MAA’ 9S ORE eo RELAY PEAT AERR > BALL 13 2 14 AA > 12 B13 MBK 5 KAIL 12 B13 MRA» 10 2 Bl MEK + ee RAR HAL TE MR GM) (adolescent growth spurt) #) A 10 REPRE HII 2m Heike > OBA Fo A Hy ARMA Re UBM) ADS 12 REBAME AEH 14 PRA IL °C AEM » ete OSSEBRE RT ESEARAWE FALE (percentile) > FHURRBRMRRZ ° FO B.A WESSON TRB ARSE 10 2H 25 TEM A AMALSE WHA Be HD ELE AE © (BBA LY RLY ED EMEA DEH Om > SCRE O: RRBB > KEBESEISWZM B12 1 RALAB RS > KEM 1 RR IR ARE AERERERKAREORE RE OS EMEBKED EOS RRR TEM OMS 9 BAER BEBE HS 13 B15 MR KEABAM 11 B14 mo GM KBAGR R34 sollte REKL BAG HIM BURS ¢ (RM 60 — 61 FHKE A CO?
