This is a part of Tina’s letter to her friend in Australia.

She and two of her friends have been staying

in Bali for almost two weeks for a holiday.

I remember at the beginning when we got a month leave from the office. I was very pleased to hear that
we decided to go to Bali, a paradise island. We flew to Bali with Garuda Indonesia from Sydney. What we
like most was the food . . .oh, marvelous! It was the first time we tasted Indonesian food. And, the air
hostesses . . . oh, wonderful. We are very happy with the air service.
But every thing has changed since we arrive in Bali. I don’t know what I’m going to do with Rose
and Any. They are so completely different. Rose loves sunbathing all day. Kuta Beach is really fantastic
but Any really hates sitting around on crowded beaches doing nothing. She’s fond of tennis and enjoys
walking. Rose as you can imagine doesn’t like any kind of sport. What a nuisance! She’s not very fond of
cooking either. Well, I don’t mind cooking but Any likes chili very much. She won’t eat meal without it
and I can’t stand it myself, so you can imagine the arguments we have at meal time.
And then in the evening, Rose is crazy about dancing, so we have to go to the disco every night. I
don’t mind disco but it’s obvious that Any can’t stand them. She just sits there looking miserable. She
says she is fed up with disco. I just can’t see why we go on holiday together. The only thing they both
seem to enjoy is watching horror films on TV and as you know I’m very annoyed wasting my time in the
front of the TV. But at least it stops them from arguing.
What should I do ? Help !!!

All my love,
Tina
