Benedict's Test

Benedict’s solution.

Procedure:

1. Fill the nine test tubes with 7 mL Benedict’s solution.


2. Add small amount of sugar/food samples to each test tube except for the control. Mix well.
3. Place the test tubes in a hot bath until the color changes.
4. Allow the mixture to cool by keeping in a test tube rack.
5. Record your observation/s.
Analysis:

1. What are importance and possible application of the test.

2. Carbohydrates with a free aldehyde or keto group have the ability to reduce metallic ions.
