Chapter II:

Learning

Rewards
Positive reinforcements may seem
inappropriate and can appear to be rather like
bribing a child to work.

Even so, they establish a pleasant relationship

between the teacher and the learner since
managing children's behaviour is fundamental.

Of course, learners can use the situation to

get what they want and it's not about being a
good student everytime.

Learning principles
If rewards are less frequent and less
predictable, learners will continue with their
responses when rewards are stopped.

Try to develop in students intrinsic motivation.

Skinner: reinforcements or punishers appear to

be most effective when they happen soon after
the behaviour.

Programmed learning
Give information
Tested that information
If there is a correct response they wil
rewarded if not they will repeat the
process
There is more of an emphasis on praise
as reinforcement.

Cognitive processes and learning

Psychology sees the individual as a processor
of information.

The humans are able to develop plans and

strategies to guide ways of interacting with their
environment.
