Included Chapter: Fundamentals of Electromagnetics and Radiation

Solve even numbered questions for even numbered Roll No. and Odd numbered
for all odd numbered Roll No.

1. A Hertzian dipole of length 25 is required to generate a magnetic field strength of 5µA/m at
a point 2 km from the antenna in the direction determined by = ⁄2,
= 0. Neglecting ohmic
loss and considering air as medium, estimate the power required to be transmitted by the
antenna.

2. A half wave dipole is required to generate a magnetic field strength of 5µA/m at a point 2 km
from the antenna in the direction determined by = ⁄2,
= 0. Neglecting ohmic loss and
considering air as medium, estimate the power required to be transmitted by the antenna.

3. A Hertzian dipole located at origin is fed with a current of 0.25 sin 10 . Determine the
electric field at a point P( = ⁄5, = 30°) if the length of the dipole is ⁄100.

4. A Hertzian dipole located at origin is fed with a current of 0.25 sin 10 . Determine the
magnetic field at a point P( = ⁄5, = 30°) if the length of the dipole is ⁄100.

5. Derive the expressions for the electric field intensity E and magnetic field intensity H due to a
horizontal infinitesimal dipole of constant current I0 and placed symmetrically about the origin
and directed along y axis. Assume similar co-ordinate system as we did for the vertical dipole.
The time variation of the current is also assumed to be similar.
