Chapter 6

Conclusion and Future work

6.1 Conclusion
In this research work, we investigated few image encryption techniques which
includes a very simple concept of Binary to Gray code conversion, 4 out of
8 code to generate carrier image, bit-reversal method, hand-gesture as a
key, SCAN based mapping technique and dual hill cipher for partial image
encryption. To improve the amount of security and amount of encryption,
the existing image encryption algorithms are used to develop hybrid concepts
for Image Encryption and Partial Image Encryption.
Each proposed encryption techniques are unique in its nature. Binary to
Gray code conversion concept in image encryption is better useful in case of
encryption of compressed image and which leads to more compression. carrier
image is used as a key image (encryption key) in case of image encryption
using 4 out of 8 code technique. where 4 out 8 code is a unique code consists
of 36 combinations (can be assigned to 26 alphabets + 10 numerals). Gesture
based key concept increases the security level, in this case along with a text
key - hand gesture are also used to provide higher security.
Hybrid techniques are developed to obtain higher performance. Chaotic
and Latin square based hybrid technique gives very good result for full image

encryption. SCAN-mapping hybrid concept is more efficient in case of selec-

tive encryption. Dual-Hill cipher and chaotic-SCAN-mapping based encryp-
tion technique are more effective in case of partial/visible image encryption.
