DESCRIPTIVE PARAGRAPH
HAI
Everyone has a favorite character in their's childhood such as Ben 10, Tom and Jerry,
Mr.Bean,...But in my mind, The one that had affected my childhood most definitely is
Charlot in the Chaplin film. In my country, he was known as the king of silent comedy
" Sac-Lo" played by "Charlie Chaplin". He brought much joy and happiness to me. If
you do not know him, that's okay. I'll tell you some things about this character. Charlot
appeared on the black and white TV in the 1915 century. About his appearance had a
little different from other men at that time. Charlot often appears with a small
appearance with a wide-legged general, wearing a black tight-fitting vest, black baggy
pants, and oversized shoes, always wear a watermelon hat on his head and he looks so
funny with that hat. He's small about 5'4 feet, holds a bamboo cane in his hand. He has
a mustache like a toothbrush and everyone who has seen him wants to shave it right
away cause it looks so stupid. He is homeless that explains through every film that he
just tramping around the city with a weird and old outfit he wears every day, a
childlike, clumsy character although has a body of an adult but inside looks like ten
years old boy. Anyway generally, he is a kind person who tries to appear as a
gentleman despite his true social status. As a poor homeless man, Charlot constantly
struggles to survive, using his cunning and cunning to fight for what he needs to
survive. as well as to get rid of other people that threaten his life. And this cunning is
the funny point of this movie. For example in "Charlie Chaplin: His new job (1915)"
Charlot worked in the movie studio with his clumsy personality, he ruined a crew with
many funny details. Also, he was very kind and empathetic towards women whose fates
were precarious, and he often fell in love with them. Like in the "Light City" movie, he
sympathized with the blind woman and had a little fluttering with her. My favorite
scene is "Charlie Chaplin - Factory Scene - Modern Times (1936)" That was the
funniest scene that I've ever seen of an entire Chaplin film. In that scene, he works at a
factory but due to work pressure, he went crazy and does many crazy things which are
making me laugh a lot. Through the story, I told about Charlot's appearance, his's
character, and some scene of Chaplin film. He's not just a character but also an image I
will never forget. Because he is my childhood and my joy.

NARRATIVE PARAGRAPH
HAI AND NGUYEN
What is your favorite character? My favorite character is Charlot in The Chaplin film.
Today I will tell you about this character through the movie "The Great Dictator". In
this movie, Chaplin plays both leading roles: a ruthless fascist dictator and a persecuted
Jewish barber. The Great Dictator not just about comedy films but also about drama
films. it was praisedas a historically significant film, one of the greatest comedy films
ever made, and an important work of satire. Chaplin's film advanced a stirring
condemnation of Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, fascism, antisemitism, and the Nazis.
At the time of its first release. Beginning of the movie, On the Western Front in 1918,
Jewish Private fighting for the Central Powers nation of Tomainia valiantly saves the
life of a wounded pilot, Commander Schultz, who carries valuable documents that
could secure a Romainian victory. However, after running out of fuel, their plane
crashes mid-flight, and the Private subsequently suffers memory loss. Upon being
rescued, Schultz is informed that Romania has officially surrendered to the Allied
Forces, while the Private is carried off to a hospital. 20 years later, still suffering from
amnesia, the Private leaves the hospital to return to his previous profession as a barber
in the ghetto. The ghetto is now governed by Schultz, who has been promoted in the
Romanian regime under the ruthless dictator Adenoid Hynkel. The Barber falls in love
with a neighbor, Hannah, and together they try to resist persecution by military forces.
The troops capture the barber and are about to hang him, but Schultz recognizes him
and restrains them. By recognizing him, and reminding him of World War I, Schultz
helps the Barber regain his memory. Meanwhile, Hynkel tries to finance his ever-
growing military forces by borrowing money from a Jewish banker called Hermann
Epstein, leading to temporary ease on the restrictions on the ghetto. However,
ultimately the banker refuses to lend him the money. Furious, Hynkel orders a purge of
the Jews. Schultz protests against this inhumane policy and is sent to a concentration
camp. He escapes and hides in the ghetto with the Barber. Schultz tries to persuade the
Jewish family to assassinate Hynkel in a suicide attack, but they are dissuaded by
Hannah. Troops search the ghetto, arrest Schultz and the Barber, and send both to a
concentration camp. Hannah and her family flee to freedom at a vineyard in the
neighboring country of Osterlich. Hynkel has a dispute with the dictator of the nation of
Bacteria, a man named Benzino Napaloni, over which country should invade Osterlich.
The two dictators argue over a treaty to govern the invasion while dining together at an
elaborate buffet, which happens to provide a jar of "English Mustard". The quarrel
becomes heated and descends into a food fight, which is only resolved when both men
eat the hot mustard and are shocked into cooperating. After signing the treaty with
Napaloni, Hynkel orders the invasion of Osterlich. Hannah and her family are trapped
by the invading force and beaten by a squad of arriving soldiers. Escaping from the
camp in stolen uniforms, Schultz and the Barber, dressed as Hynkel, arrive at the
Osterlich frontier, where a huge victory parade is waiting to be addressed by Hynkel.
The real Hynkel is mistaken for the Barber while out duck hunting in civilian clothes
and is knocked out and taken to the camp. Schultz tells the Barber to go to the platform
and impersonate Hynkel, as the only way to save their lives once they reach Osterlich's
capital. The Barber has never given a public speech in his life, but he has no other
choice. He announces that he (as Hynkel) has had a change of heart, he makes an
impassioned plea for brotherhood and goodwill, encouraging soldiers to fight for liberty
and not slavery, thus saying, "I'm sorry, but I don't want to be an emperor.". He then
addresses a message of hope to Hannah: "Look up, Hannah. The soul of man has been
given wings, and at last, he is beginning to fly. He is flying into the rainbow, into the
light of hope, into the future, the glorious future that belongs to you, to me, and to all of
us." Hannah hears the barber's voice on the radio. She turns her face, radiant with joy
and hope, toward the sunlight, and says to her fellows: "Listen.". That's the end of the
movie, Through the movie, it gave me many lessons and life and politics, the life of
human in the world war. the movie also teaches the audience about humanity and how
to rise up to fight evil.

NGUYEN
Charlie Chaplin is a common example when talking about comedy, everyone knows
about his iconic look “The Tramp” as well as his fame in the film making industry. Not
many people know much about his past that he struggles with but he still gets through
and brought a smile to the world with a humble self. Boomers, millennial, and Gen Z all
know about this hilarious figure, some talking about his career, some even cosplay as
him but it’s all to put a smile on others. We can all work to bring satisfaction to our
loved ones and perhaps one day we can be recognized and be an icon to people’s eyes.
TU
Charlie Chaplin brought not only good laughter but also his skillful acting skills to
create meaningful stories and films of life. To his audience, he was not only a clown
king but an outstanding and talented actor. He had a face for many of the world's
childhood
