 Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center has been recognized by the American Hospital
Association (AHA) as one of the top 20 U.S. hospitals providing outreach services
that improve access to healthcare. AHA represents and serves nearly 5,000
healthcare organizations and 37,000 individuals nationwide. The local hospital was
showcased as a national case study for its efforts to develop mobile outreach
programs in northern Nevada and providing dental, medical and outreach services
for the at-risk populations.

 Parkinson's disease and essential tremor patients in northern Nevada have a new
treatment option available to them through the Renown Institute for Neuroscience's
called Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS). Renown is the only hospital in northern Nevada

has issued two patents to the company’s co-founders, Dr. Rudolf Gunnerman and
Peter Gunnerman. The patents, entitled “Conversion of Biogas to Liquid Fuels” and
“Continuous Process and Plant Design for Conversion of Biogas to Liquid Fuel,”
relate to their ClearRefining® technology, a method for producing clean liquid fuels
(GDiesel®) through a unique low temperature, low pressure closed loop catalytic

technology to manufacture GDiesel® in its 200,000 gallon per day refinery located

 Washoe County School District is seeking public input about the District’s budget
situation. Due to the anticipated losses of local, state, and federal funding, WCSD is
facing an estimated $75 million shortfall for each of the next two fiscal years. WCSD
has launched a survey to gather cost-savings suggestions and other budget-related

Cabela’s is sponsoring its second annual Scout Challenge. This free event is open to
all area Boy Scouts and includes participation in a series of six events as a team that
combines team work, communication and scout skills all held in a fun environment on
the surrounding land outside the store. A free lunch at the conclusion of the event
along with an awards ceremony is also part of the Cabela’s Scout Challenge. Pre-

 Sparks Heritage Museum announces tickets are now available for the first Mother’s
day weekend Spring Time Victorian Tea at the magnificent home of Dusty Rhodes.
May 7 from1:00-4:00 p.m. The home is decorated in a Victorian style and tea goers
will enjoy a home tour as well as a scrumptious old fashioned tea party. Tickets are

Proceeds benefit the Sparks Heritage Museum.
