In the world, there are many different versions of public safety agencies. In a world

where countries are faced with emergencies, they develop policies for their agencies to respond

to them. When looking at the United States’ public safety agencies [ CITATION Wik211 \l 1033

] by definition they are very different from other countries like Japan, Brazil, and Canada.

The United States’ public safety agencies are set up at many levels. The local level of

public safety agencies is combined departments, that have cross-trained personnel that are

EMT/Medic, Firefighter, and Police certified [ CITATION Wik211 \l 1033 ]. Some agencies can

also be set up like local levels and/or encompass DOT due to the highways that the state

manages [ CITATION Wik211 \l 1033 ]. State public safety agencies can also be considered like

the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE)[CITATION FDLE \l 1033 ] or, Florida

Department of Emergency Management (FDEM)[ CITATION FDEM \l 1033 ]. Both of the

agencies serve different purposes to the citizens but, play crucial roles in protecting citizens.

Now looking at a different country, Brazil’s public safety agency serves a completely

different purpose to their citizens. Brazil’s public safety agency called, National Public Security

Force, is strictly aimed towards policing from a federal level[ CITATION Wik212 \l 1033 ]. It

may seem odd that a federal agency only policies but you have to consider how many riots and

organized crime violence that the country experiences frequently. Since Brazil has this security

force they can respond and dispatch members to prison riots, violence against police, gang

violence, and major public events. Without this key agency not in place in Brazil, the

government would be under continuous threat of being overthrown.
