Procedure
1.Gather and prepare equipment.
2.Introduce self.
3.Explain the purpose & procedure
to the client.
4.Determine the amount of
assistance the client requires.
5.Don gloves then position the client
in a back lying position with knees
flexed and spread well apart.
Procedure
6. Cover the client’s body & legs with
the bath blanket.
7. Assess the pubic area for
redness, bruises, or broken skin.
8. Place the client on a bedpan &
pour antiseptic cleanser or warm
water to the pubic area.
9. Hold the razor so that the blade is
at a 45 angle to the skin.

Procedure
10. Starting on one side, shave in
the direction of the hair using
short, firm strokes about 2.5 cm
(1 inch) long. Pull the skin taut
with the other hand before
shaving areas with creases.
11. Dip the razor in warm water .
Procedure
12. Wipe the area with wet
washcloth, then pat dry.
13. Inspect for any unshaven areas
& cuts.
14. Document any significant
assessment such as redness,
bruises, or cuts.
