Key insights

St. Jaime Hilario

From the life of St. Jaime Hilario, my key insight is that when he didn’t denounce
his title as a brother to free himself from persecution. This is significant for me because
even though he knew that he would die if he kept his title as a brother, he still stood by
his faith until the very end and chose death without seeing his family.

St. Mutien Marie Wiaux

From the life of St. Mutien Marie Wiaux, my key insight is that he overcame all
the challenges that almost got him expelled because of his poor teaching performance.
He overcame these challenges with the help of Brother Maixentis and he became a
teacher for over 50 years. This is significant for me because his experience teaches us
that we can overcome the challenges that God gives us with the help of other people
and through hard work.

St. Benilde Romancon

From the life of St. Benilde Romanco, my key insight is that even though his
father opposed the idea of him becoming a brother, he still pursued the life of a brother
in order to help the community. This is significant for me because he chose to go
against his father because he saw that the community needed him as a brother
because the state of the world worsened with wars, chaos, and hardships.

St. Miguel Febres Cordero

From the life of St. Miguel Febres Cordero, my key insight is that he went against
his family because of the pressure of being born into a notable family. His family already
had expectations placed on him when he was born and these expectations prevents
him from doing what he wants. When he was finally able to achieve his dream, he
continued to improve his skills in his vocation in order to help other people.

St. Solomon Leclerq

From the life of St. Solomon Leclerq, my key insight is that he refused to take an
oath of allegiance to the new French government. This led to him being imprisoned in
the Carmelite convent and got killed on September 2, 1792 in the garden of the
convent. His life inspires us to assess ourselves and the essence of our faith. It also
makes us acknowledge the people who keep their faith in God even if it means risking
their life. It also challenges us to be more aware of the people who suffer from the
injustice of society and to reach out to them.
