In the Universal Declaration of Human rights of the United Nations all humans have the right

to participate in the governance of any country, either directly or by helping to choose

representatives in free and genuine elections. But, for example, in Spain this is not true,
because immigrants do not have the right to vote.

Eventually in municipal elections, only citizens of the EU and 12 non-EU countries who have
resided in Spain for more than five years have the right to vote, and they must register to do
so. The 73% of foreigners living legally in Spain do not have the right to vote. Many people
think that when immigrants arrive on our shores, they receive too many comforts that are
paid for with our taxes, that immigrants cost us more money than they produce and that they
should not have the right to vote in a country that is not their own.

but I don't think that, I think that immigrants leave their countries due to some push factors
and come to Spain in search of a better future and others pull factors. If immigrants had a
good life in their countries, they would not come to Spain. I think that we must be more
empathetic and support and help immigrants as much as possible so that they can integrate
as well as possible.

Finally, if we want to achieve the total integration of immigrants in our society, we must give
them the same rights and opportunities as the rest, and this implies the right to vote.
