How these alternatives can to be?

These alternatives were brought about by Linux users who have compatibility issues
with Microsoft Office (that is hardwired to run on Windows machines only;
currently, Microsoft Office only runs on Windows and MacOS). While there is a
program (WINE) that can overcome this, having a direct free alternative was easier
to do than use another software to emulate a Windows environment for the program to
work.

The following are some of the known Microsoft Office Suite that runs smoothly on
Linux-based systems:

1. OpenOffice
The second most popular desktop publishing program for Linux users. It provides a
similar looking interface with Microsoft Office but providing more tools for
productivity.

2. LibreOffice
Similar to OpenOffice, it is another free alternative for Linux users, usually is
pre-installed on Ubuntu-based Linux distributions. Known for its snappy, intuitive
interface, it is the most popular free alternative to Microsoft Office and can be
installed on all operating systems.
